How can you work around a waste box full error on Xerox Phaser 6100 printer The one I bought gives an error on startup. I washed out the box. Must I buy a new one?

Safety Note: Be very careful when emptying out the old toner from the waste box - you can easily create a very fine dust which should not be inhaled. It can be an lung irritant. That's why modern laser printers have a disposable cartridge system.
It is usually best to buy a new waste toner box, since these are designed for single use and discard.
You must carefully clean one particular part of the box upon which the sensor operates:
- Take the emptied waste box and hold it upright in front of you the way it is installed in the printer, with the transparent side facing towards you.
- There are 2 round holes at the top of the box where the waste toner comes in - pay attention to the left hand hole.
- Just below this hole is a narrow transparent section which is the highest point on the transparent side of the waste box - this part MUST be clean. This part of the waste box fits in a recess on the printer where the sensor is located.
- I used a cotton wool ball attached to a short length of soft wire to get inside the narrow section and pick up all traces of toner.
- Re fit your waste box and everything will be OK.
