The same way any other licence can be suspended... nonpayment of fines, excessive points acquired, operating a vehicle (of any type) under the influence.
While the above is correct there is a new Federal law that will require your CDL license to be suspended if you receive two serious CDL violations within three years. Most companies will not hire you if you have just one serious ticket. Some of the serious violations are speeding 15mph or more over the limit, following too closely, lane violation, etc. A CDL driver should contest any speeding ticket since your job depends on keeping your license.

∙ 11y agoThat depends. If the suspension is ongoing, you cannot. If it has been resolved, and your license has been reinstated, then yes, you can get a CDL. The problem, however, is finding employment. If you have more than three points accrued within the last three years, nobody will want to hire you. If you had a DUI/DWAI within the last three years, you're untouchable - you won't find a CDL driving job. Period.
