* He is keeping you on a tight leash and is calling all the shots! It's time you became more independent and not make yourself so available to him. In the next conversation you have with him tell him that you feel you need more 'head space' yourself and that you prefer he not contact you any longer. Let him know you plan on dating and getting on with your life. This will either make him spin around and realize he loves you or you'll know for sure if he doesn't love you if he agrees with what you say. If he tries the 'let's be friends' routine, there is no such thing when a couple breakups and one is still in love with the other. Be your own person and don't let anyone use and abuse your feelings.

There is no specific time limit however, giving them time and space will allow you both to think about things and sort through your feelings. Especially if they broke up with you for whatever reason(s) - let them contact you if/when they decide and if they do not then that will indicate that its over and your going to have to respect that then move on.

Yes. i have done it as a woman. Sometimes it's hard to mix friendship and love, especially if the love the woman feels is not mutually shared.
