I had to do the same thing. any auto parts store should have an aftermarket socket, just cut the wires close to your old one, and the new one is color coded, just match the colors and shrink wrap, or use electrical tape!

If you dont have mech experince then i would let a shop do it because its easy to change but the new one has to be aligned using the adjustment screws. Use socket
To change a dipped headlight in a VW EOS, first, open the hood and locate the headlight assembly. Remove the cover or cap from the back of the headlight to access the bulb. Disconnect the electrical connector, then twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove the old bulb. Insert the new bulb, reconnect the socket, and replace the cover before testing the headlight.
Usually 5/8 inch spark plug socket.
Mine's a 97, but it may be the same. If you just have a headlight burned out, you only need to change the bulb, not the whole assembly, like the tail lights. Open the hood and find the socket directly behind each headlight. Twist the socket just a little until it comes loose, pull the bulb out of the socket and take it to the store to match it up with a new one.

Unclip the headlight connector and twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove the old bulb. Insert the new bulb without touching the glass, reattach the socket, and close everything up.
Twist the socket 1/4 turn and pull out.

On some cars you have to replace the whole headlight, but in a lot of cars you replace just the bulb. At the back of the headlight, see if you can twist out the bulb socket. You may depress it while twisting it counterclockwise.
Passenger side go in from under the hood and find the socket. Remove it and replace the bulb. Drivers side is a different story. You have to remove the battery to get at the socket.
