One reason for Flight Simulator no longer working is the fact that Microsoft no longer supports FSX. Another reason is the recent is the recent release of Flight from our friends at Microsoft.
A workable alternative to FSX is X-Plane as those who used to have FSX have found.

look at the stupid seal! if the card is a 1st edition, the seal has to be gold. this is also true for limited edition cards. Unlimited vesions have silver seals. 1st edition/limited edition = gold seal Unlimited = silver seal. unlimiteds can't have a gold seal
