If the cotton growing in Pakistan is damaged by the floods, the textile plant in Karachi will not have cotton to be made into cloth.
During July floods the supply of cotton becomes relatively low thus cotton being the raw material for textile mills causes a shortage of products for mills.

Our country Pakistan, has been affected by the flood 50 time since 1947.
over 250'000 - 300'000 homes were destoryed so i can't belive how many people were effected the fact says 700 people died :(
The only real prevention is to have adequate warning to all people potentially effected by the incoming tsunami and evacuating the flood areas.
All I could scrap up is, the Indus River Valley grew wheat, barley, beans, sesame, rice, bananas, black pepper, mustard, and cotton crops. They had good crops because of the Silt left by the yearly flood. This flood was made by the Indus River Valley.
If it were not for the Nile river civilization would have been in possible in Egypt, they rely on the annual flood to make the surrounding soil fertile & for irrigation of their crops, one of the most famous being cotton, which is a very water hungry crop. The Blue Nile Lily ( I think it is known as, extremely rare these days, though hopefully not extinct in Egypt was thought to have been used as a mind altering drug, probably for religious purposes, research done on it a number of years ago supports its supposed properties.
