There are generaly three terminals to transistors.

Emitter, Base and Collector (sometimes a fourth terminal 'Shield' is added)

They come in different packages, of plastic or metal cans.

You would have to look up the transistor number in a data sheet, or book, to find out which pins are what.

Why do you have to connect a resistor to collector of transistor?

Type your answer here... to properly bias the junction for current flow thru the transistor. The voltage potential must be different on the base than the collector

Use the astable to switch a power transistor and connect the buzzer as the transistor load.

How do you test a transistor using cathode ray oscilloscope?

Yeah...its possible to test the transistor using Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO). CRO provides a function called "Component Testing". Just connect the transistor terminals between two pins provided by this function and you can observe the patterns on the CRO screen. Normally, in case of transistor, The operation is divided in few parts. 01. Observe the pattern for CB configuration. ---- For this, connect the terminalsfrom CRO between this Collector and Base terminals and you can observe the pattern shown by CRO. Same procedure should continue for CE & BE configuration so as to test the transistor.

How many possible states does a transistor have?

The transistor is a semi conductor. The materials in which it is constructed has three terminals and which to connect to external input. The connection in addition has another terminal which changes current. Therefore the output is high input is lower.

How do you discharge a 1 farad capacitor?

You could try licking the electrodes but that might hurt. I would just connect the electrodes with a screw driver that has a thick plastic handle, but if u mean discharge it in a circut just use a transistor

How to draw NOT gate using NPN transistor?

RTL logic: NPN transistor. Emitter grounded. Input connected to base through a resistor. Vcc also connected to base through a resistor. If the input is high or open, the transistor is on. If the input is low, the transistor is off. Connect a resistor from Vcc to the collector. The collector is the ouput. You have to play around with resistor values to setup your fan-in and fan-out properties.

Why do we connect a transistor to a DC motor?

Transistors are not normally connected to dc motors, but it is possible to use transistors in a speed-control mechanism for a motor.

What are the three wires called on a transistor?

Most transistors have three leads. This is true even in power transistors which use the external case or housing to connect to the collector, because the circuit which uses the power transistor must still use three wires to connect to it.
