The elements in group IIIA of the periodic table are called the boron group. This group includes the elements boron, aluminum, gallium, indium, and thallium. They have three valence electrons and show both metal and non-metal properties.
Group 2A elements form compounds that are less soluble in water. Group 2A elements are harder. Group 2A elements have an additional valence electron. Group 2A elements are less reactive.
Elements that exhibit moderate electrical conductivity include metals like aluminum, zinc, and copper. These metals are not as conductive as metals such as silver or gold, but still allow for the flow of electrical current with some resistance.
metals
Na (sodium) belongs to the first group (vertical row) in the periodic table, all of the other elements in this group (row) have similar characteristics to each other. In general, each group has similar characteristics.
Group 17 elements, 'Halogens', have seven electrons in their valence shell and show the valency of 1. 4 of the 5 elements in that group are non metals including fluorine, which is the strongest.
The Alkali metals (group 1) and the Alkali Earth metals (group 2) react violently with water. Lithium and magnesium show slow reactions in boiling water. Sodium and potassium reacts violently with flames with cool water. The elements in higher periods (strontium, barium etc.) react explosively.Elements in the 1st group react rapidly with cold water. The rate of reaction increases down the period. The elements in the 2nd group also reacts with hot water or steam.
Metals in group one are chemically active as compared to the elements in group three and two. Elements like sodium, potassium, chlorine and fluorine are some of the chemically active elements.
Group 3-12 on the periodic table are known as the "transition metals." These elements have partially filled d orbitals and exhibit typical metallic properties like malleability, ductility, and conductivity. They form colored compounds and can show multiple oxidation states.
This is because nitrogen tops the group and all the elements therefore show similarity with nitrogen and or show similar chemical properties....
A column in the periodic table is a vertical group of elements that share similar chemical properties. A family in the periodic table refers to a horizontal row of elements with increasing atomic numbers.
he put them in groups to show acids from alkali's and gasses from metals
