It depends on where you are in the river. It averages between 20 and 25 feet deep in the Monroe, LA area. The lower part of the basin, after Little River and Tensas river join it to form Black River, it is dredged to depths of 60 to 80 feet deep near the bridge on Hwy 84. The average depth at the Jonesville Lock & Dam is about 50 feet.
