One thing Alexander did that paralleled his father's 'ideas' was in his conquering...
His father Philip II, had unified almost all of the city-states of mainland Greece. He did this under Macedonian hegemony and the federation was called the League of Corinth.
Alexander reconfirmed "Macedonian rule by quashing a rebellion of southern Greek city-states and staging a short but bloody excursion against Macedon's northern neighbours, Alexander set out east against the Achaemenid Persian Empire, which he defeated and overthrew"
Yes he did, after his fathers death Alexander set out to fufill his fathers goals. He amassed the largest empire in the entire ancient world, an empire that coverd 3,000 miles. He did so without the modern technology and weponry- he took the throne in 336 B.C after his father was murdered in 334 B.C, he was fufilling his fathers goals(dreams/ideas). He then declatred war on Persia witch lay across the aegean sea in Asia minor (modern day Turkey), his forces defeated the Persians and continued south.
