There is no good, justifiable reason as to why he was put on the twenty dollar bill ahead of other Presidents. He was the one who fought so hard to kill the nation bank and when he finally had it defeated, he decided to make it suffer. He is also responsible for the blatant genocide of thousands of native Americans. He openly deified a Supreme Court ruling (see Worcester v. Georgia) by send 7,000 troops to round up the natives and removed from this nation. He should have been impeached, but instead we put his face on a federal reserve (national bank) note. That's pure irony.
He was on the $10-dollar bill in the old series of bills so they just moved his picture over
to the 20 when the new, smaller bills came out in 1928.
He was a popular choice as a figure to put on coins and stamps, since he was a successful
2-term president and a national war hero before he became president. Furthermore, he
had been dead long enough that his political enemies had also died.
yes, he believed in the common man and he didn't like the banks and only the 1 and 5 dollar bills, therefor they wanted to mock him and put him on the 20 dollar bill.
bad things:
-he was apart of the Trail of Tears
-didn't agree with the banks
- thought the native Americans leaving was okay
His face was moved from the $10 in 1928 when they came out with the new smaller bills.
He was a popular president and had been dead long enough that his enemies were also dead.
Maybe a better question is why was Hamilton put on the $10 or why Cleveland was kicked upstairs to the $1000 bill which has seen been put out of circulation.
Well, there are many reasons for this. Reason 1, many Native Americans that are still alive today refuse to use 20's because of his Indian Removal Policy that was later finished up my Martin Van Buren. Anyway, this causes some people to believe that Jackson should taken off the bill.
Another reason is that Jackson despised paper money. This is one of the very few things he was unable to accomplish during his eight year presidency. Because Jackson did not like paper money, some people find it disrespectful that he is on this bill. Perhaps they could put him on a coin instead.
The treasury is issuing an entire series of one-dollar coins, honoring the Presidents in order, 4 per year. Jackson was the 7th and his coin came out last August. Since then,
Van Buren abd Wm H Harrison have appeared. Polk and Taylor will appear later this year.
In 1928.
When the new small bills came out in 1928, Jackson's face was moved from the $10-dollar bill to the 20-dollar bill. They kept the same portrait.

Twenty. A portrait of Andrew Jackson, seventh President of the United States, appears on the United States twenty dollar bill.
If you look just below the portrait, there's a caption that will tell you it's Andrew Jackson. Every U.S. bill in current circulation has an identifying caption below the pictures on both sises.
I don't believe that Thomas Jefferson ever appeared on a twenty dollar bill. Andrew Jackson has been the portrait on the US twenty dollar bill since 1928. Jefferson does appear on the two dollar bill, and has since 1918 (and also from 1869 to 1874).
