Aphrodite did not willingly marry Hephaestus, it was the god of metal who sent his mother, Hera, a golden throne that captured her, to release her Aphrodite was offered as the bride of the god that freed Hera - Aphrodite consented to this believing it would be Ares who freed Hera, but it was not and Hephaestus undid what his 'gift' had done and won her for his bride.
The Iliad says yes. It should be noted, however, that the only reason that she did is because Aphrodite forced her to. She was the promised gift for Paris awarding the Golden Apple of Discord to Aphrodite. It wouldn't have made much of a gift if the woman didn't want him too.
Hera is just as beautiful as Aphrodite. Athena wasn't as beautiful as them. Yeah, so what if Aphrodite is what the Greeks believe to be the goddess of love and beauty? Are people forgetting that Hera is the goddess of marriage and childbirth? Yeah, MARRIAGE! And Paris never judged Aphrodite to be lovlier or more beautiful then Hera or Athena. He simply gave Aphrodite the apple because Aphrodite offered him the best gift: the love of the lovliest women on Earth, a.k.a. Helen, which I guess he thought was better then the other goddess' gifts.
I think aphrodite was treated fairly by history because she was loved and admired by everyone. People wanted to be her and be infatuated with her. Some people miss judged her as someone who would sleep around and she did but its not how she wanted to be portrayed. Aphrodite was just this beautiful goddess who wanted to use her gift as good. She did her responsibilities as a goddess and gave people companionship.
Aphrodite married Hephaestus because Zeus willed it; when she came to Olympus, he gave her to Hephaestus, who was overcome with his good luck. It is said Zeus willed it, as a gift to Hera, who loved her son Hephaestus, so she would overlook his multiple counts of adultery with mortals.
In the myth of the Judgment of Paris, each goddess offered Paris a tempting gift to win his favor. Hera promised him power and kingship, Athena offered him wisdom and military prowess, while Aphrodite promised him the love of the most beautiful mortal woman, Helen of Sparta. Ultimately, Paris chose Aphrodite's gift, leading to significant consequences in Greek mythology, including the Trojan War.
