Actually, I think they helped each other. Michelle was a successful businesswoman and attorney, and she had no plans to enter politics. When Barack ran for office, her life changed a lot. Once he became president, I am sure he helped her to adapt to the role of First Lady and to understand the new world they were now living in; he also continued to be a caring husband and father. But I am also sure that she helped him by being a source of encouragement, being a good mom and a loving wife, and giving well-received political speeches in support of his policies.
