He wanted Britain to treat the Colonies more fair.
Franklin along with Adams, Jefferson, Sherman, and Livingston were assigned to the committee to draft a declaration justifying the decision for independence. Franklin had little to do with the first draft which was left to Jefferson ( Adams stated that Jefferson could "write ten times better than I.") partly because Jefferson was a Virginian and because none of the committee appreciated what an important document it would become. Franklin was also happy to leave the task to another. He stated " I am just recovering from a severe fit of gout, which has kept me from Congress and company almost ever since you left us." Besides gout Franklin suffered from rashes, boils, and related lesions. Jefferson sat down to write and would send a message to Franklin " Will Doctor Franklin be so good to peruse it and suggest such alterations as his more enlarged view of the subject will dictate?" He treated Jefferson's writing gently and suggested changes, but Congress was more harsh.
Because he thought the colonists could govern themselves

He didn't. He was for independence.

It depends on what he said. I can't tell you if I agree or not since I don't know the quote.

Religious freedom is defined in the new republic as the freedom of following one's conscious and choosing the religion that one sees is best.

Benjamin Franklin performed his famed kite experiment some time in June of 1752. Many historians don't agree with an exact date since there is only Franklin's account of the event, but the exact date is thought to have been June 10th.
I doubt it. They were very strict and had very little tolerance for the views of others who did not agree with them. They were not in favor of too much individual freedom.
Democrats, like Republicans, love America and love freedom. Those are two things both parties can agree upon. That and the fact that you need to get out more.
The main reason why most Puritans came to North America was to enjoy the freedom of religion. Most of them did not agree with the principles of the Anglican church of England.
I absolutely agree with Ben Franklin's view. During the revolutionary war soldiers died so that we may freedom if we are so quick to give up our freedom for a little safety than we don't deserve either. This is exactly why the Patriot act should be repealed. It takes away some freedom and gives law enforcement and the government more power all that so they might be able to catch a terrorist. Absolutely not worth it. Repeal the Patriot Act!!!

Yes, I strongly agree.
Samuel Adams and Benjamin Franklin
Perfect freedom can intrude on other's "perfect freedom" or utopia. No one could ever agree on what perfect freedom means.

Franklin was revered by people all over the colonies, Britain, and France - even (to a certain extent) by many who did not agree with his politics.
