It is one and the same: The Battle of Puebla occurred on May 5th, 1862 (Spanish: Cinco de Mayo de 1862) when 4,500 Mexican soldiers and militia fought and won against French forces (6,500) who were better prepared, better supplied, and hadn't been defeated for more than 50 years. This happened during the Second Franco-Mexican War (1862-1867).
