∙ 12y agoJohn learned to play piano probably in his teens considering his mother played piano and taught him to play the banjo and Ukulele. I doubt he learned to read music but Im sure he knew chords when he was a teen. John also taught himself the piano Accordion during his teens (which obviously requires piano skills). So the best guess would probably be during his mid to late teens (1956-1958).

∙ 9y agoElvis had a photographic memory along with perfect pitch. Elvis was self taught on the piano (note: a beautiful example of this is on YouTube and on the DVD entitled "Elvis, That's the way it is" where it is just Elvis with a white towel on his shoulders and he gives a beautiful performance playing the piano singing "How the web was woven").
Elvis and Liberace were friends and when Elvis went to see him in the 1950's Liberace gave him a few pointers.

When you include the digital and CD bonus tracks, David had one full write (Falling) and four co-writes (A Little Too Not Over You, Don't Let Go, Works for Me, Somebody Out There). David also co-wrote Zero Gravity which was released later. For his 2nd pop album, David is participating in a lot of the writing, in both LA and Nashville. But many more songs are written than end up on the album. It will be interesting to see how many Archuleta co-writes make it to the album.
