The British kicked out the Italian occupation army that had been there since 1936. Before that, Ethiopia had always been an independent country.

I don't know that's why i am asking
The first country to gain independence is believed to be Japan in 600 BCE. However, Ethiopia is one of the countries that were never colonized.
Liberia was the first to gain independence after being colonized by outsiders, but the independence of Ethiopia dates to antiquity and was never fully ended.
Ethiopia was never colonized, therefor, it's not independent Actually, if Ethiopia was not colonized, that would mean it remained independent. During the frequent colonizations of Africa, Italy tried to colonize Etyhiopia, but they fought and won, therefore maintaining their independence.
Ethiopia got colonialized by Italy during 1936,but it had stoped the Italians during the scramble of Africa 40 years before.During ww2 emperor haile selassie asked the british to help him get back his throne,so the british invaded the east African colonies of Italy, and so in 1941 Ethiopia was back in haile selassies hands. But during these few short years Italy never really built anything in Ethiopia, only a few roads, and culturally there is an ethiopian plate which is similar to lasagna,so it would look like it was never colonized, but after ww2 most European countries helped Ethiopia modernize itself.
Ethiopia has always been independent. It was conquered by Italy in 1936 but the Italians were ejected afew years later by British Commonwealth troops during World War Two.
first caribbean country to gain freedom from france
Ethiopia was never colonized.
Ethiopia did never gain its independence. It has always been so. And it was the only county in Africa which has always (always is a bit relative; of course you can go 1000s of years back and the situation was different, but i guess your question was aimed to know more about the europe countries occupying african areas during imerialism) been independent.
April 1941
Ethiopia obtained its national independence in 1896.
