Galileo was the first person to observe celestial objects using a telescope. His findings supported the notion proposed by Copernicus that the planets orbited the sun rather than Earth and that Earth orbited the sun rather than the other way around.
Galileo made observations of the movements of the planets and the Sun. By the relative movements of these celestial bodies, Galileo provided evidence that the Aristotelian model of geocentrism (the Earth is the center of the universe) was incorrect, and advocated instead heliocentrism (the Sun is the center of the universe). Due to these "heretical" views, Galileo was placed under house arrest for most of the remainder of his life. However, today he is championed as one of the early advocates of heliocentric theory, which, though not correct, was a major step forward for astronomers.
noone really knew that he was the one who gave this discovery therefore everyone thought it was just a myth. everyone started to take advantage of one another to talk about this subject.

We'll never know. But it may be worth noting that Galileo supported and played a major role in the theory concerning the heliocentric theory, or the belief that the Sun was at the center of the Solar System.
It showed that there were solar systems similar to ours elsewhere in the galaxy.
Galileos discovery of those moons led people to realise that not everything in the universe moves round the Earth. It raised the question of whether the Sun travels round the Earth or not. A hundred years after Galileo's time, scientific discoveries were making it increasingly clear that the Sun is at the centre of the solar system.
The discovery of the moons of jupiter lent support to. the heliocentric system. If you apply equal forces to a cement truck and a compact car.
Using inclines, Galileo discovered that all objects fall at the same rate. He was also the first to witness the moons around Venus, proof that the solar system does not revolve around the Earth.
