George was the son of slaves, his family owned by a man named Carver. When he went to Iowa State Agricultural College, he adopted the middle name Washington, reportedly because there was another George Carver at the school.
Born into slavery at Moses Carver's farm, his mother named him George. After she was kidnapped, the Carver's raised George and his brother as his own. When he went to school for the first time, the lady he was staying with asked what his name was, he replied "Carver's George". She told him to go by George Carver as he was free boy and so he did.
Later in his life, while he attended a High School in Minneapolis he discovered that there was another George Carver whose mail kept getting mixed with his. He decided to add the middle initial "W." to his name to avoid confusion. When people kept asking what the "W." stood for, he decided on the name Washington.
While at college, there was another George Carver so George Washington Carver added Washington to his name. I have not been able to find out why the name "Washington". It has been guessed because of George Washington (there is no relation). While at college, there was another George Carver so George Washington Carver added Washington to his name. Vermont-1791, Kentucky 1792, and Tennessee 1796
George Washington's portrait is on the one-dollar bill.(No additional capitalization in needed. I did add a hyphen to "one dollar." since the phrase is used as a compound adjective. )
Coins that have letters and numbers added are common, but it does not add to the value of any coin. 1957 is not a rare year for a Washington quarter so the value is just for the silver, about $5.00
I wated to add , by the way, that I went to visit the Washington monument in Washington,D.C over the weekend
simply add an 's'
the person that discovered ADD was George Frederick Stll
