Giuseppe Garibaldi, the Italian nationalist and revolutionary did not have significant impact in World War 1, mostly due to his death in 1882. His significance in history is largely in the Unification of Italy in 1861.
The Blackshirts were Fascist paramilitary groups in Italy during the period immediately following World War I and until the end of World War II. The term was later applied to a similar group serving the British Union of Fascists before World War II and to members of a quasi-political organization in India. Inspired by Giuseppe Garibaldi's Red shirts, the Fascist Blackshirts were organized by Benito Mussolini as the military tool of his political movement.
