How did Helen Keller learn that everything has a name?

Well, if you think about it, Helen Keller didnt know what words MEANT. To Helen, the words that Anne Sullivan was spelling out in her hand were just movements. They didnt mean letters or words.

So for instance if you think about the word apple. Your mind goes straight to the red fruit and you know that A-P-P-L-E meant the fruit. You didnt have to know that that was the Name for it you just asumed that because you have been taught that.

To Helen she couldn't be taught that because at the age of two she lost her hearing and sight to Scarlet Fever. She didnt know that A-P-P-L-E meant the little red round fruit. But how could she? she hadnt been taught that. So when she found out she called it that everything had a name-a title.

Well, Annie (her teacher) was having a hard time making her realize that everything has a name but one day she was pumping water into Helen's hand and it was as if something in Helen's brain just clicked and from then on she new that everything had a meaning:))
