Apparently Henry was very much in love with Catherine Howard and was saddened when evidence of her adultery was presented to him. He is said to have been very upset and cried. Nevertheless, she was found guilty and eventually beheaded.
Young, pretty, and spirted Catherine Howard came to the Court of Henry VIII around 1540 as a Lady-in-waiting for his bride to be Anne of Cleves. Catherine caught the king's attention and no doubt her uncle, the duke of norfolk, incouraged her. Forty-nine year old Henry devorced the wife he never liked on July 12 and married nineteen year-old Catherine sixteen days later. Henry was no girl's dream anymore. He'd gained alot of weight, had an ulcer on his leg that caused him alot of pain and had to be opened daily to squeeze out the puss and blood, and was known for his terrible temper and violent mood swings. Catherine made him feel young and handsome again. He called her his 'rose without a thorn' and she took on the motto 'No Other Will Than His'. But less than a year after their marriage rumors of affairs began. You can't really blame the girl for seeking men her own age. By November of 1541 enough evidence had been gathered to bring the matter to Henry's attention. Henry didn't believe the charges but agreed for an investigation. Evidence was found that Catherine had had not been a virgin before their marriage and had had affairs with other men after. On February 13, 1542 Catherine Howard was executed on the Tower Green.
She would not accept it. She died not accepting it. Still regarding herself as his wife. and the true Queen of England.

How would you think? Most women whose husbands announce they are leaving them for another woman would probably be pretty upset. But she was probably relieved to discover that she was being divorced instead of beheaded!
Henry loved Catherine when they married. Because she was older than him, she was also wiser and counciled with him in his decisions. All through the struggle with Ann Boleyn, she continued to make his shirts to show dedication to the king. This proved to Henry that she was also stubborn. He began to hate her because of her stubborness. When she died, Henry had the court dress in yellow and celebrate.
