Hera is the goddess of marriage, family, and is the Queen of the gods (Olympian). Her parents, Cronus and Rhea (Titans) had five other children, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia (Olympians). Cronus god a prophecy that said one of his children would overthrow him. So he ate five of his children, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia. Zeus had not been born yet, and his mother Rhea did not want Cronus to eat him, so she tricked Cronus into eating a rock wrapped in a blanket that he thought was baby Zeus. When he was born, Rhea hid baby Zeus, and when he grew up, he tricked his father into throwing up his siblings by serving him poisoned wine. The other five children were immortal gods, so they had been growing up unharmed in Cronus stomach. His children waged war on him and the other Titans. The Titans lost, and his children became the new gods, the Olympians. Zeus married Hera, making them the King and Queen of the gods. That is how Hera, and the other Olympians, rose to power.
