They were later captured by Snatchers in The Forest Of Dean. They were taken to Malfoy Manor. Death Eaters tortured them. Hermione told Griphook to lie to Bellatrix about the sword. When they had the Horcrux at Hogwarts, with the sword, they had destroyed the Horcrux.

The possibility shows when they are at the Malfoy's. Harry, Ron and Hermione gets caught, and brought to the Malfoy's house. And when Bellatrix Lestrange discovers that they have the goblin-made sword, she panics, of the thought that someone has been in her vault at Gringotts. And because she panics and behave like that, Harry gets the idea that the cup is in her box just like Mr. Malfoy had the diary. And a bit later when they have escaped the Death Eaters, they talk about it, and later on they ask the goblin that escaped with them, to help them to get it.

When Ron returned they finished destroying the horcruxes. And eventually, she married Ron, and had two children; Rose & Hugo.

Although, Hermione is not the type of person to say such a thing. As for his thoughts, well Ron spent most of the sixth book believing that nobody thought he could play Quidditch.
