I don't know about "unified and glorified" , since the lands of Ivan III after all his conquests and annexations still only covered a small part of what is now Russia, and Russia in Ivan III's day was still considered by European nations a savage and asiatic backwater.
Ivan conquered his new lands by war against the Republics of Novgorod and Vyatka, and by confiscating lands of his Boyar nobles and of his own nephews and brothers. His major accomplishment (breaking the hold over Moscow of the Golden Horde was largely due to Ivak, the Khan of the Nogay Horde, who defeated them in a surprise attack before they could march on Moscow.
