J.K. Rowling is done writing HP books but she has moved on to writing other books of fantasy with different characters and ideas
J.K. Rowling initially began writing the "Harry Potter" series on a napkin during a delayed train ride. She later transferred her ideas to a notebook where she continued to develop the storyline.
Honestly, she was on a train. Apparently, the idea just strolled into her head. For the remainder of the ride, she played around with the idea in her head.
When she started writing her books she lived in Tutshill, Chepstow, South Wales. She lived there when she was little too and people say that her house is where she got some of her ideas from.
All authors get story ideas from the same place - see the link.
she based some of it on her life
He was a good writer. Getting ideas down on paper and phrasing them for impact.
In his autobiography Boy, Roald Dahl says that he believes that he got his ideas for books from his childhood. Of course, a lot more thought goes into writing a book, but this is how he started - getting ideas from his past.
In many interviews, Joanne Rowling claimed that the characters 'just walked into her mind.' She was on a train journey, and by the time she got there, she had thought of many of the characters.
Two words. Harry Potter.
