His death did not offer hope - but His resurrection did!!Christ's resurrection showed that He was God! He had power over sin and Death! And that He had paid the price in full for all mankind's transgressions. Transgression is a fancy word for sin. Christ's being raised from the dead offered hope.

The annunciation is the angel Gabriel's announcement to the virgin Mary that the 'power of the highest should overshadow her', and that she should bring forth a son, Jesus. The story of hope is Jesus Christ himself, for through his death he destroyed him who had the power over death, the devil; and gave eternal life to those who believe in him.
"In the face of death, the Church confidently proclaims that God has created each person for eternal life and that Jesus, the Son of God, by his death and resurrection, has broken the chains of sin and death that bound humanity. Christians celebrate the funeral rites to offer worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God for the gift of a life which has now been returned to God, the author of life and the hope of the just."
jesus death redeemed us by reconciling us to the father god thus creating a close intimacy with him and we are now justified by faith and not condemnation
