He PRINTED them. He was the inventor of the letter press-type printing press. A major contribution to the world's technology, and early player in the industrial revolution. His invention changed the world. Prior to his invention, things had to be copied by hand. The printing press opened up literacy and education to the entire world. Incidentally, Germany still leads the world in printing technology, and produce the world's finest and most technically-advanced lithographic (and other) printing presses.
