He felt unworthy standing near the Messiah. John understood exactly who Jesus was and what His mission on earth was to be.
Matthew, Mark, and John for sure wrote about Him. Then Luke was believed to be written by Luke but told by Simon (Peter) because Simon was illiterate. In Luke it talks about experience about Simon with Jesus many times which hints that Simon wrote it. And John talks about the experience he had with Jesus many times in his book John.

The names of the four fishermen are Peter, Andrew, John and james.

John was a disciple of Jesus. As time went on Jesus, changed John's name to Mark. Just as he did with Simon of Jonas; He change his name to Peter.
John's gospel names Simon Iscariot as Judas' father. (This was not the same Simon who became a disciple of Jesus and was renamed Peter.)
