The most significant groups Armstrong took part in included King Oliver's group the Creole Jazz Band, Armstrong's own Hot Five and Hot Seven bands, the All Stars and Fletcher Henderson's orchestra. He collaborated with many more musicians like country forefather Jimmie Rodgers and blues singer Bessie Smith.
The 1920's were the start of the "Jazz Age" a.k.a. "Roaring 20's," and had quite a few great jazz musicians, such as Louis Armstrong, Fletcher Henderson, Jelly Roll Morton, Paul Whitman and Bix Beiderbecke.

He continued to write for Bennie Goodman during the 1940s until he suffered a stroke and passed away a year later December 28, 1952.
