He used him as a "go between" with human world. Napoleon could get certain goods to either benefit the farm or himself (alcohol)

" i will work harder" and Napoleon is always right!"
Napoleon is a fictional character in the book, Animal Farm. He uses the sheep to his advantage to drown out others with the sheep's bleating.
Napoleon convinces the the animals that all the unfortunate instances on Animal Farm were because of Snowball. He propagandized Snowball to be the bad guy and used him as a scapegoat in order to gain control. Napoleon also used the dangerous dogs to intimidate the other farm animals into not questioning him. All in all, Napoleon used power and fear the oust Snowball.
Both Stalin and the pigs in Animal Farm used tactics like propaganda and reign through terror. They also both employed secret police to do their bidding. In Animal Farm the secret police were the dogs that were "reeducated" for Napoleon's use. They carried out the executions much like the police in the Russian revolution.

Napoleon accepted a contract of four hundred eggs a week through the solicitor Whymper. He wanted to sell them on to make money for grain, meals and upholding the farm until summer came.
The hens' eggs are sold to Mr. Whymper in Animal Farm to generate income for the farm and to show that the animals can engage in trade with the outside world. The pigs, who are in charge of running the farm, use the money from selling the eggs to buy supplies and items they need.
After Napoleon chases off Snowball, he attempts to placate the neighboring farms by opening up trade with them, despite the rule against using money. But that's okay, because Squealer explains it eloquently.
he used them to scare off snowball so he wouldn't come back . he also threatened with them and made them a fear tacticagainst the other animals.
