Parliament won the Civil War for many reasons, some obvious ones are: There were far more of them, they had outstanding leaders (especially Cromwell), they were more organised and efficient and because Charles I had a lot of faults. But there are some more detailed answers that are as follows: · Area Controlled Parliament controlled a lot more area than the King, and in August 1642 when Charles raised his army at Nottingham, many people were forced to make a quick decision on which side to be on, many people simply chose to support the Army in the area, and seeing as Parliament had more area, more people supported them, because they had main control. Also, because they controlled more area, Charles had little space to operate in without having to fight, putting on more pressure to raise and encourage more troops, and as the Parliamentarians succeeded in battles they gained more land making it even worse for Charles. · Control of the Navy was very good for Charles downfall, because Parliament had control over the Navy; they had control over the sea, so they could make sure that Charles got no outside help or supplies. · Scottish Help when Scotland allied with the Parliamentarians an extra 22,000 Scottish soldiers were added to their force, greatly outnumbering Charles. · Parliament's Military Leadership and Organisation Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell were extraordinary leaders, with experience. They had control over the army and they were organised which was essential. There tactics were advanced and effective, an example of this would be the Battle of Naseby, where they had a well laid out army and on top of that dragoons to attack from the side. Also, a key thing the Parliamentarians had which the Royalists didn't was all the troops and wing leaders present and present for the whole battle, whilst the Royalists had missing troops/cavalry and leaders all the time which was one of the main reasons that the Royalists lost at Naseby.
