How did Saint Joaquim die?

Joachim, the father of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is known only from the apocryphal gospel of James and nothing is mentioned in canonical scripture. There is no mention in either about the death of Joachim but one can surmise he probably died of complications of old age.

St. Joaquim (or Joachim) is mentioned in neither historical or canonical writings, but is traditionally revered as the supposed father of Mary, mother of Jesus. We do not really know who was the father of Mary, and most probably Joachim never really lived. Even Catholic tradition has little or nothing to say about the life of Joaquim, so there is not even a customary traditional answer as to how he died.
