Patrick was abducted and taken to Ireland as a boy of 16 where he was held as a slave and shepherd by a pagan Druid chieftain. He eventually escaped and returned home to Britain. Years later the Pope sent him back to Ireland where he worked to convert the Druids to Christianity
St. Patrick was born and raised in Roman Britain, either Scotland or Wales. When he was 16 years old he was abducted and taken to Ireland as a slave. he remained there for 6 years until he escaped and returned to Britain.well he was captured when he was a little boy but he was born in England and grew up in Ireland and he was a Shepard boy for his master who took him but when he grew up he went back to Ireland.
Patrick was born about 1,600 years ago in Britain. As a boy Patrick was taken away and made a slave in Ireland. Patrick was a slave for many years and one day he made his escape. Upon returning to Britain Patrick promised to work for the church. Patrick was sent by the church back to Ireland where he spent his life converting the Irish people to be Catholic religion. Patrick converted thousands of Irish people and built many churches, and when he died the Catholic church made him a saint so that is why he was called saint Patrick and that is why we celebrate it. It is Ireland's national holiday and wherever Irish people can be found around the world, it is celebrated.
He was born in Wales named Maywhin soocket, he was kidnaped at age 16 and sold to an Ireland man his name was changed to pig boy, he lived in Ireland for 6 years and grew very close to God, one day God told pig boy to leave Ireland, so he walked 200 miles to the sea, hitched a ride to France got lost with the ships crew, prayed for food after supplies ran out and eventually reached England and continued working for God at his church. Then he had a dream that the people of Ireland neede help so he finished school became a bishop (his name was changed to Patrick) he went to Ireland told the people about God, Ireland was saved through Patrick. He died March 17th at age 73 and his name was changed one more time to Saint Patrick.
St. Angus MacNisse supposedly was baptized by St. Patrick. He was a priest and made a pilgrimage to Rome and the Holy Lands. He was later consecrated as abbot-bishop of Kells in Ireland by Saint Patrick. Among other miracles attributed to him, he is reported to have changed the course of a river for the convenience of his monks, and to have rescued a child who was about to be executed for his father's crime by having the boy picked up by the wind and carried to him.
Patrick rid Ireland of snakes. There is NO relativity from snakes to saint Patrick's day. You see in the begging st. Patrick was actually a boy born in England and his name was Maywhin soocket, he grew up in England for about 16 years and then was kidnapped by a group of pirates (or ireland raiders) called the Whales, he was sold as a slave to a man in ireland and his name was changed to (Pig Boy), when he was in Ireland he noticed that the people did not know about God and therefore they prayed to things like twigs, pond scum, and rocks. Well pat-er- i mean pig boy lived in Ireland for 6 years and in those years he grew very close to God, one day God told him it was time to leave Ireland so he walked and walked 200 miles and finally reached the sea and got on a ship and headed for France. It took them 3 days to get there and when they did the left on foot for the nearest town, but the got a little lost and fond them selves walking for 28 days and then there supplies ran out, so big boy prayed to God for some food and after he was done, some stow-away pigs were font following them, after this they found a town stayed a while and then pig boy am his way back to England were he served his church and God. And one day he had a dream telling him that the Ireland people needed help, so after he finished school and became a bishop witch meant he had a lot of responceability and could preach to the people about God, his name was also changed agian to Patrick. so he went to ireland and preached about God to the people and through Patrick the people of Ireland tearned to God. God blessed Patrick as Patrick blessed the people, he lived a long and good life and at the age of 73 March 17th he died and the people he loved and the people that loved him decided to change his name once agian to Saint. Patrick. And this is why people all around the globe celebrate St. Patrick's day (March 17th) and wear green (the color of Ireland and shamrocks) to remember a man who loved ireland and loved God. See NO snakes!
In legend Dar Erca is sister to St. Patrick and the mother of seventeen bishops."Lupait is one of five sisters attributed to Saint Patrick by later writers and she is portrayed as having shared his experience of being sold into slavery in Ireland."There are many legends and myths about St. Patrick, the following from Saints and Angels is all that we know for sure:Patrick was born around 385 in Scotland, probably Kilpatrick. His parents were Calpurnius and Conchessa, who were Romans living in Britian in charge of the colonies. As a boy of fourteen or so, he was captured during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. Ireland at this time was a land of Druids and pagans. He learned the language and practices of the people who held him.
The leprechaun is an old Irish legend. He is like a spirit.I don't think there is a direct connection. Leprechauns are based upon Irish luck fairies and the Celtic version of dwarves, which were small slimy gold hunting tricksters. St. Patrick was the person who supposedly drove out the pagan beliefs and imagery of ancient Ireland. It is likely to simply be Disney-ecse cuteness to have some nice creatures to prance around in the parades etc. There is no connection, except that they are both Irish.Leprechauns and St. Patrick's Day are connected because a leprechaun is an Irish symbol of good luck. Also Saint Patrick had good luck on his escape from the people who captured him.Leprechauns have been in Ireland for millions of years. They are not synominus with any other country. St Patrick was born in Wales but came as a boy slave to Ireland around 400A.D. He escaped and came back to Ireland as a man and Christian Bishop. He converted the pagans living in Ireland to Christianity and thus became Pastron Saint of Ireland. He is buried in Downpatrick in Co. Down
