The initial spirt of Christmas Past carried a flamed torch which lit up the room. The Ghost of Christmas Present bathed his bedroom in a candesant light which came beneath the door of his room.

It was stated to him by the visiting spirit towards the beginning that three spirits would visit him over the night, Ghost of Christmas past, present and future. So after the third, he knew that was all of them :P

He was scared and unwilling to accompany the spirit. Scrooge's attitude is one of terror when the spirit asks him to take his hand and take off into the sky.
Scrooge initially fears the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come because it represents the unknown future and the consequences of his actions. As he experiences the visions of the future, he becomes remorseful and understands the importance of changing his ways to avoid a bleak future for himself and others. Ultimately, Scrooge embraces the lessons taught by the spirit and resolves to make amends.

The second spirit to visit scrooge in A Christmas Carol is the Ghost of Christmas Present. The ghost takes Scrooge to both his nephew and employee's home in the present time. He also appears with two spirit children, Ignorance and Want.
Change. Scrooge promised the spirit to change his attitude toward life and money and his fellowman.
Scrooge couldn't hide the light on the spirit's head because it represented the spirit's purity and goodness, which could not be concealed or extinguished. The light symbolized the spirit's divine nature and its purpose to bring enlightenment and transformation to Scrooge.
