Simeon was a righteous and devout man who lived in Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit revealed to him that he would die before he saw the Messiah. Simeon went to the temple and held the Christ Child, and blessed the family.
The prophet Anna was a widow who never left the temple after her husband passed away seven years after her wedding. She spread the news about the Christ Child to everyone in Jerusalem looking for redemption.
When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple, to be dedicated. It was Simeon the old priest and Anna a very old prophetess who were there. Simeon recognized who Jesus was.
Jesus gave them the power to see threw to him to recognize there father.
