Mr Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence as well as the Constitution with input from the Continental congress. He bought the Louisiana Purchase and sent Lewis and Clark on an exploration of the land he had bought. This act increased the size of the country significantly as well as made resources available that had been unknown let alone available. One example is the increase in animals that were available for the fur trades - both in population as well as in variety. With this increase more people were able to have fur coats, blankets, etc. This also allowed more the opportunity to sell what they trap and make a living doing so, especially with the interest in the fur hats and coats from Europe.
