Everyone thought it was a terrible idea. Disney said, “It was prophesied that nobody would sit through a cartoon an hour and a half long. But we decided… to go for broke.”

What inspired Walt Disney to create Mickey Mouse?

Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks and Les Clark in 1928. He was created to replace Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Disney had previously used the character of Oswald in several animated shorts produced by Charles Mitnz. In 1928, Disney's requests for an increased budget was met with opposition from Mitnz, who instead insisted that Disney take a 20% budget cut. Mintz owned all rights to the Oswald character and had also signed most of Disney's animators to a new company, producing shorts for Universal Studios. Disney refused this deal and worked with Iwerks and Clark to create a new character. Mickey Mouse (originally called Mortimer) was inspired by a pet mouse once owned by Disney. He debuted (along with Minnie Mouse) in the 1928 short, Plane Crazy.

What were Walt Disney's likes and dislikes?

Family was very important to Walt he felt that family shoud always come first. He also loved to draw. When he was younger his family was very poor. He would draw on just about anything he could find. On time he and his little sister painted pictures on the side of their family's house using tar. Needless to say hiis parents weren't thrilled. Another favorite of Walt Disney were trains. He loved them so much that he had a mini model (still large enough for him to ride on) in his back yard; it even went undergroud a short ways.

Did Walt Disney help with the war?

Short Answer, No. Answer Explained: There's a lot of rumors about Walt serving in WW1, the fact of the matter is that he was a member of the Red Cross, and drove an ambulance in France for a year. However, that was after Nov 1918, when WW1 had ended. Furthermore, Walt was born 1901, so he was too young to have served as a soldier in the United States Armed forces, during WW1 (1914-1918).

Why did Walt Disney make Walt Disney World?

Disneyland in California wasn't large enough for what Walt Disney wanted, so they came to Florida where they could get a lot of land and the possibilities would be endless for what they could do. Walt Disney died five years before the opening of Walt Disney World, but he was instrumental in its planning.Walt Disney wanted another Disneyland style park on the East Coast, that could encompass a bigger park, with more space for attractions. The success of Disneyland made him want to try something a little more ambitious. Disneyland was initially constrained by funding, and later by how much the area around the park became built up. He wanted to do it over again now that he had the money to do things the way he wanted right from the start.Walt Disney wanted a place where he could finally create his experimental prototype community/city of tomorrow (e.g. EPCOT), unfortunately the land Walt Disney owned in California was not enough to incorporate his entire plan. In the original plan Walt had, the land was to be used for everything including theme parks, businesses, neighborhoods, and everything else to create a Utopian society where everything you need was at your fingertips. Unfortunately Walt Disney died before his dream became a full reality and the imagineers tweaked the original plans to be less secluded and less of a Utopian community. EPCOT has now become one of the theme parks rather than a place for people to actually live and the actual town owned by Disney called Celebration is more of a nostalgic town than a futuristic. hub-based metropolis.Walt Disney also wanted to get away from his competition (Universal, Busch, etc.) and actually bought the land under a different name in order to throw them off, at least for a little while.
