They had a better-than-average hiding place (not visible from the front, it was almost undetectable from anyone on the street who didn't know the interior of the building), the building itself blended seamlessly with all other buildings on the street, and most importantly, they had hard-working and very discreet helpers in Otto's office staff. Had they not been betrayed, they would have almost certainly been safe until the liberation.

Anne Frank and her family coped by maintaining hope, finding strength in each other, and staying connected to their faith. They also kept busy with daily routines, educational activities, and writing in their diaries as a way to stay positive and mentally strong during their time in hiding.

Anne and her family coped pretty well until Hitler came along, banged Anne's mum, raped Margot and got in bed with Otto. Then on, they weren't a very happy family!
