They didn't "know where to discover" Jupiter. Jupiter has been known since ancient times, since before there was astronomy. Jupiter is one of the brightest objects in the night sky, and can be easily spotted without visual aid. Jupiter along with four other planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Saturn, were given special recognition by some of the earliest obseervers of the night sky because they moved relative to the background of stars.
