Becquerel discovered radioactivity by accident while studying a mineral containing uranium. he observed that with exposure to sunlight the mineral gave off a penetrating energy that exposed the film. while one day he tried the experiment one day the day was cloudy so he put it away in a dark desk drawer and at the next day he found the picture of the mineral and later found out that the mineral did not need sunlight to expose radiation so he gave it to two young researchers that eventually isolated the two elements named polonium and radium

Worked lead was dated back as far as 6400BC. Its discovery is not documented, but it melts at fairly low temperatures so it would be possible to work it at fireplace temperatures.
James Chadwick discovered the neutron in 1932. This discovery would eventually lead him to win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1935 for his work on neutron research.
Because it's easy to work with, and it's weather proof. (The lead forms a patina when exposed to the elements that seals it in, so it won't leach lead into the groundwater.)

The elements of doing work is using energy its ability.
Because no scientific work is considered a "discovery" until it has been independently verified by several other scientists in different places. If their work verifies the original claim, then it is indeed, a "discovery" by the first scientist in question. If the work of the other scientists cannot verify it, or vary wildly from the first scientist's work, then it is not a new "discovery".
Marie Curie was the first person to discover radioactive elements, including radium and polonium. She won two Nobel Prizes, one in Physics in 1903 and another in Chemistry in 1911, for her groundbreaking work in radioactivity.
Marie Curie's main discovery was the identification of the elements polonium and radium, which led to the development of the theory of radioactivity. Her pioneering research paved the way for advancements in nuclear physics and medical treatments using radiation.
Charles Glover Barkla won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1917 for his discovery of the characteristic X-ray radiation of elements. His work furthered the understanding of X-rays and their interaction with matter, contributing to the field of atomic physics.
