Nearly every movie you see on TV, DVD, etc. were originally from books. The only exception, possibly, was the film "Love Story", that one may have originally been a film...then a book made from that. Many readers & writers got their beginnings from reading paper backs and comic books while in the military (didn't have cell phones or computers back then). Contrary to popular belief; fighting (battles) is NOT common in a war...lots of time to read (paper backs and comic books). Battles (fighting) are usually only minutes long in duration, and come once a month, once a week (if it's a bad week), etc.
