He did survive all of his expeditions, but barely on the 4th. On the 4th he was shipwrecked for over 2'years on an island about 100 miles from Porto Rico. The island governor knew he was there but ignored his rescue. When the rescue did take place he was sick and frail. Columbus died soon after he arrived home in Spain with his family around him. His son had to sue the crown because they refused to follow the terms of the contract they made with him.
