In the early 1800's, an English man by the name of Sir Roseart Crayola looked at a rainbow and started to think. He noticed that little kids that wanted to show their parents a specific color would just point and say that one. In order to help the little Brits he decided to name the colors. He decided the first letter of every color by using the name of his best friend, Roy G. Biv: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. He picked this name because there are seven colors in the rainbow and there are seven lettters in his friends name.
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo

That is how colors were born
The tertiary colors are created by mixing two secondary colors together. Tertiary colors are not the same as intermediates because intermediates are created by mixing one primary color with a secondary. Sometimes the intermediates are referred to as tertiary colors, BUT remember it isn't the other way around.Examples of Tertiary colors:- Orange + purple = russet- Orange + green =citron- Purple + green = olive(These aren't all of the tertiary colors)A way that you can tell intermediate and tertiary colors a part is that true tertiary colors have names of their own. Intermediate colors have names with their primary and secondary colors in them (i.e. Red-Violet, Blue-Violet, Red-Orange, Yellow-Orange, Blue-Green, Yellow-Green)
You can't have secondary colors without primary colors.
Colors consist of primary colors and secondary colors. Primary colors are used to make secondary colors. Examples of this include red and blue making purple and red and yellow making orange. Primary colors cannot be made by mixing other colors.
