Democrats are for the middle class and lower class. Democrats try to improve those classes by providing the services they need. Republicans are for the upper class and say that charity is for the peoples choice.

Republicans believe the best way to improve opportunity for Americans is through what in Europe would be called austerity: cutting taxes, removing regulations and privatizing everything they possibly could. Democrats believe in investing in America through infrastructure improvements and education spending. Austerity hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried, but that never stopped the Republicans from believing the only reason it's not working is we're not going far enough. Another view Democrats believe in big government, period. Hand outs that encourage people to stay where they are in life, and have no ambition. Democrats usually preside over more state welfare, paid for by taxpayers. Democrats today have 53 per cent of Americans getting some kind of government help, the most in history. They want people to be dependent on government from cradle to grave. As for education spending, we spend more than any other country per student.

The opposition from Republicans seem to be mainly a matter of politics. Granted, there are some opponents of the Affordable Care Act who genuinely believe it will be too expensive and not effective. But most of the opposition from Republicans does not seem to be about saving money: it seems to be about obstructing anything President Obama wants to do. The Republican plan, unfortunately, seeks to revert things to how they were before, which will leave millions of Americans without access to affordable health care. The hope that many Democrats have (and Democratic politicians understand the Affordable Care Act is not perfect, but they believe it is a start, and that once it is fully implemented, it will help many people) is that moderate Republicans will work with them to improve the law and fix the parts of it that need improvement. But at this point, Republican politicians seem determined to stop or repeal the law, rather than trying to work with Democrats to provide more Americans with access to affordable health insurance.
