Feudalism was an economic and social system that ensured a strong foundation for the people living in the Middle Ages for the time being. Since there was so much fighting and surprise attacks back the, feudalism was created. Feudalism began with a king or lord who would give land to a vassal to take care of. The land would still be under the lord's ownership, but the vassal would be paid as a caretaker. The vassal would hire serfs, who were servants that were considered as domestic animals. They worked tirelessly on the land and received few rights and pay.
