Geography influenced the development of Tenochtitlan because at first, the land was full of water, but then the Aztecs reclaimed land from the lakes by sinking timbers into the water to serve as walls and filled the area between the timbers with mud, reeds, and boulders. In this way they created small islands called chinampas, or "floating gardens". Eventually, Aztecs expanded the city's land surface until it covered over five square miles. They even merged Tlatelolco, originally a separate island, with Tenochtitlan.

How geography related to the development and progress of the country?

Geography plays a crucial role in shaping a country's development and progress by influencing factors such as natural resources, climate, topography, and access to trade routes. Countries with abundant natural resources like minerals or fertile land may have advantages in economic development. Additionally, geographic features like mountains or bodies of water can present challenges for infrastructure development. Geographical location can also impact a country's access to markets, affecting its trade relationships and overall economic growth.
