We eat them, use them to carry loads, use them for transportation, use their hair and/or hides for clothing, use their hides for writing parchment, use their fat for lubricants and fuels, as pets and companions, as pest control, to help herd other animals, to guide the blind, to locate and/or rescue lost people, etc.

humans are animals and they benefit from eating cows. humans also benefit from drinking the milk of cows.
Buddhists do not think that animals and humans are equal. They do believe that animals and humans are sentient to the point that causing them unnecessary suffering for your benefit is incorrect.

in our view it's acceptable. For any type of benefit for humans we may use animals. If there's no need or benefit, then its unacceptable. we may use animals only for needs. not wants; and causing them gratuitous pain is forbidden.

Animal husbandry is using animals for the purpose of humans.
They are cared for by humans: given food, water, shelter, and even a bit of TLC. When an animal is hurt or in trouble, most humans will go out of their way to get them out of trouble and send them to a veterinarian to heal their wounds.
