Thomson Edison did not exactly discover the bulb but improved it. Before Edison's experiment, the problem was that the bulb had a very short lifetime. He had to find a filament that would glow for a much longer time than before. In 1879, after performing 6,000 experiments on different materials, he observed that a carbon filament lasted the longest.

He did not invent the light bulb. Edison is usually credited. Mr. Davy may have developed an early form of carbon-arc lamp but this was priitive and not a bulb. The british scientist contributed to the caloric theory and did discover sodium and also laughing gas-nitrous oxide, but not light bulbs!
He didn't, he invented the miner's safety lamp and also discovered Sodium. The lamp as indicated by the above contributor was called the Davy lamp, which allowed miners to enter gassy workings. No, you can accidentally discover things (as they already existed but you didn't know that) and you can use an accidental discovery to then invent something, but all inventions are deliberate not accidental. When you invent something you have a specific goal in mind that you are trying to reach. The inspiration for this goal may come from many sources though (e.g. a long held desire, a comment by another person, witnessing an accident or disaster, a new discovery that suggests a way to make the invention you had not thought of before). Of course many inventions also fail, as the available technologies and/or infrastructure at the time cannot support the invention or the invention (no matter now much desired) is not allowed by reality.
Edison did not invent the first electric light bulb, but instead invented the first commercially practical incandescent light. He therefore just improved on other peoples work.
The lamp was invented by sir Hemphery Davy in 1815 to help coal miners who went underground to work in mines.
Isacc Newton is generally not associated with the invention of the light bulb.
