Why do Chinese hate Japan?

Japan and China have fought wars, and there is always some bad blood after that. Also, when Japan happened to win and occupy parts of China it was not a particularly gracious victor. The Japanese military did not treat prisoners and civilians in occupied territories very well. There have been some spectacular atrocities committed as recently as WWII. For instance, The Rape of Nanking, where several hundred thousand prisoners and civilians were killed and tens of thousands of women were raped over a period of six weeks. Also, there were the activities of Unit 731, where prisoners were used for medical experiments and testing of bioweapons. There are still people living today who might have witnessed acts like that, which would be a bit hard to forget.
